Where does the music arise from? The sound is the music!
Ok then, where does the sound come from?

Thoughts like these occupied my mind from the very beginning when, after looking at abstract paintings by Gerhard Richter and listening to ambient and techno music by Aphex Twin and Dominik Eulberg I had decided that I wanted to paint glorious  abstract landscapes of the mind - with sound.
So I wondered when did these artists decide what brush stroke, what color, what sound, what effect to put there, right at this spot, right in this moment...? And why did they decide the way they did?

Only after I had started to familiarize myself with the tools of sound creation, I started to realize that they probably didn't decide, at least not in a preplaned cognitive manner as I had imagined, but rather had thrown something, anything at the canvas, so to speak, and then formed and reformed that something in a reiterative process until their sense of the world or their aesthetic taste decided that this piece now fits the evolving puzzle.

The idea that these artists might not actually be the creators of their art, but rather via the process of reshaping something spontaneous, something random - they might merely be the first people that were able to experience it, excited me tremendously. I felt like some deep hidden meaning of reality and how our conciousness creates it within our minds was being revealed to me.
Ever since, and foremost on this album, I gave myself to the experience of shaping something existing, but randomly selected, or something spontaneously created in a reiterative looping manner until the landscapes of my mind found form.

I invite you to enter with me to visit the five resulting mindscapes of the one individual conciousness calling itself TomKern
